Today's group focused on the Torah (Old Testament) reading for the coming Sabbath. This parsha pertains to the vestaments worn by the high priest. For this week's art project, we created water color images of the breastplate worn by the high priest and discussed the symbolism of this item of clothing.
The painting we created was divided up into 12 sections, each representing a stone found on the breastplate. These stones corresponded to the 12 tribes of Israel, and there is a possible corrolation to the zodiac and birthstones connected to each tribe.
We discussed birthdays of participants as well as astrological signs and birthstones.
